Mission Statement

Mitcham Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a Bible believing and Holy Spirit empowered congregation. Our desire is to know God and to please Jesus Christ through our worship, prayer, tithing, study and service. Our goal is to preach and teach the truth of God and demonstrate the love of Jesus to people of every race, gender, nationality, age, and social class. Our calling is to address the needs of the hungry, naked, sick or imprisoned – whether they be troubled in body, mind or spirit. Our commitment is to make a difference in Royal Oak, Michigan, our neighboring communities and around the world.  Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge that we are called to:
  • Be a “Healing Station” – a Faith and Service Church.
  • Bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to life in the world around us.
  • Reach out in loving concern for the needs of the body and soul of God’s people.
  • Locate, organize, and build up the Body of Christ as the will of God directs.
  • Strive to identify and develop the gifts and talent of every member.
  • Build bridges to our sister congregations throughout the Body of Christ.
  • Remain determined, disciplined, and dedicated to excellence.
